Meeting Your Assessment And Measurement Needs

Sterling Institute designs and develops paper-based and internet-administered surveys that assess employee development needs and provide company-specific and position-specific insight into the core competencies that account for exceptional individual and organizational performance. An important part of this practice is to provide customer-driven and data-driven analysis of survey findings to help you gain senior management commitment to leading the process of organizational change and employee commitment to initiating individual self-directed development.

Every business is increasingly driven to understand and meet the needs of its employees so that it is in position to hire and promote the right people and to ensure that all employees have the core competencies required to carry out their job responsibilities and achieve the business results expected of them.  Before you prepare a human resource development and succession plan, you may want to first assess what your employees regard as their core competencies and what they consider to be their primary development needs.  Armed with this knowledge the process of gaining internal consensus becomes more manageable.  Our survey instruments will help you identify the key performance issues that need to be addressed in your organization and, further, will help employees plan the action steps they can take to close the gaps that are hindering both individual effectiveness and organizational performance.

Sterling Institute has developed a series of diagnostic survey instruments that provide individual employees with structured feedback on their effectiveness on the job.  They also provide senior executives with enterprise-wide data that identifies the key factors that contribute to and inhibit the overall performance of their organizations.  Based on years of empirical research across a broad spectrum of industries, we have identified the core competencies for a range of roles and job responsibilities including: leadership, management, project management and team effectiveness.

A Comprehensive Set Of Survey Instruments

Sterling Institute is proud to offer a series of diagnostic business tools that can help you identify and analyze employee perceptions across a range of important performance measures.  We have been in the business of assessment design and development for over thirty years.  Our family of survey tools can be made available off-the-shelf and administered as is.  We can also tailor these instruments to your industry, company and target positions, so that they reflect your terminology and unique operating environment.  Further, you can call on our extensive experience to design and develop a diagnostic instrument from the ground up to ensure that we capture information on the specific performance measures that you want to use.  We can help you define the core competencies of your target position and custom design a survey that reflects the unique needs of your survey population.

Time Sensitive Administration. We can work with you to administer the survey within almost any deadline you set.  Once your survey recipients complete the survey, we can tabulate the results and deliver personalized feedback to those employees whose practices are being surveyed within a very short timeframe.  We have been doing this for over thirty years, so our work processes have been refined to the point where we can meet client requests in a thorough and timely manner.  Sterling Institute takes responsibility for the scoring and processing of the surveys directly, so there are no administrative headaches.  Our Customer Services Managers are always available to help with any administrative questions that you may have.

Internet Administration.  Our ability to administer our assessment tools either conventionally or over the Internet allows you to provide your survey recipients a way of completing the questionnaires that works best for them.  You can quickly access the status of responses received by us by viewing your survey site on the Internet or simply by giving us a call.  Our goal is always to help you achieve a 100% response rate to your survey efforts.

Confidentiality.  Survey respondents can rest assured of the confidentiality of their responses.  All surveys are processed directly by Sterling Institute, protecting the anonymity of the respondents and encouraging greater candor in completing the survey.

User-Friendly Feedback Reports.   Our Participant Feedback Reports present survey results in a straight forward and easy to understand format.  Employees whose practices are being surveyed are readily able to analyze their results.  Data is sorted by survey dimension and ranked from highest scoring items to lowest, making it easy for them to interpret their survey findings and prioritize their strengths and improvement opportunities.

Interpretation And Action Planning Guides.  In addition to the comprehensive data reports provided to survey participants, they receive support material to aid them in their analysis of the data and subsequent development of their improvement plans.  These materials prepare participants to review their Action Plans with their immediate supervisors and then to implement them on the job.
