Taking Charge of Change

Summary
This one-day program prepares employees to take charge of change that is occurring in their organization. Through the use of application exercises and other exercises, participants assess the satisfaction they gain from their work and their effectiveness in achieving the results expected of them. They learn to analyze the changes occurring in the work unit, the policy/procedure problems in the workplace and their impact on performance, along with the options and possible benefits resulting from their resolution. Participants learn to find ways to adapt to change and develop solutions that meet their needs and those of the organization.

Change is today’s watchword - not because the change we experience is more profound than in previous decades - but because its pace is faster and the chaos it creates is more disturbing to employees’ need for stability.

When strategic plans reach the implementation level, associates play a key role, not only in making the change occur but in changing the way they work to achieve optimum efficiency.

When the executive team, serving as a change initiator, concludes that making fundamental changes to the organization’s work processes will lead to improved performance and increased marketplace competitiveness, front-line employees, who are most often the targets of change, are expected to adjust quickly, implement the change and accept new roles and positions in the organization. In order for front-line employees to support and implement change initiatives, they must be able to commit to and be aligned with the proposed organizational change. We all know that without the guidance and support of their management team and without meaningful training to usher them through the change process, front-line employees will support the status-quo and undermine the company’s change initiatives. Traditionally, individual contributors have lived in a world of stability and predictability. Today, we need front-line employees who can adapt to changing priorities and contribute effectively to work teams that must constantly reinvent themselves.

Course Outcomes
This practical course focuses on a current change in the participants’ organization. By participating in this workshop, participants will be able to understand:

  • Their involvement in the macro and micro change process;
  • The “norms” of change in people and organizations as a way of understanding how change works and effects people;
  • How to guide themselves and others through change; and
  • How to apply tools and models presented in the program so that they can effectively work through change, both personally and organizationally.

In this course, participants identify a current change initiative that is important to them and their organization. They learn a range of important tools and techniques to work through change and apply them to their current circumstance. Participants develop personal action plans that help them cope with change and facilitate change initiatives on the job.

Why should you consider this program?

Without the active involvement and support of front-line employees in the change process, change initiatives will be delayed if not scuttled, resulting in lost business opportunities and an eroding competitive posture in the marketplace.
