Summary
This workshop enables leaders to master the challenges of leading associates through the change process and implementing Lean initiatives. Participants learn the fundamentals of managing change including understanding their role as change agents and developing the skills they will need to carry out that role in a Lean manufacturing work environment. Leaders will learn how to create a common purpose among the people they lead, involve employees in planning and decision-making on Lean projects, build trust, and overcome resistance to change. This practical course focuses on the leadership and change skills that are required to implement continuous performance improvement methodologies and build a culture that supports Lean manufacturing.
Course Outcomes
As a result of participating in this program leaders will:
- Refine and articulate their Lean vision for the future state of their organization and create an action plan for achieving it;
- Understand their responsibilities in managing change;
- Assess the impact that their leadership practices have on their department’s readiness and ability to adopt the Lean initiative;
- Clarify their role as leader and identify their strengths and improvement opportunities;
- Determine when and how to involve others in decision-making in order to ensure a commitment to the decisions and to achieving quality results;
- Effectively deal with resistance to Lean initiatives;
- Understand and proactively respond to the emotions that change generates;
- Maintain momentum for Lean initiatives; and
- Develop, implement and refine workable action plans for supporting Lean initiatives in their department.
