State of Wyoming
Department of Administration and Information
Scope of Work:
The State of Wyoming experienced rapid changes as
state agencies examined their mandates and the ways they delivered their services. Many
are moving to become a customer focused organization with a new mission, vision and values
--- and doing so in an environment that calls for "doing more with less". They
needed to address the leadership and morale issues that surfaced and hampered their
ability to reach their desired state. They wanted to build their internal capacity to
provide training programs that addressed these issues and have them consistent throughout
the State. The Department of Administration and Information chose Sterling Institute to
provide two programs, Managing Change and Roles of the Middle Manager.
Facilitators were trained by Sterling Institute and the programs were conducted on a
statewide basis.
Accomplishments:
The program participants are able to implement
immediate actions to improve the leadership practices they have been demonstrating in
their work unit. Improved communication and clarity of work unit goals have resulted in
higher performance and improved customer service. The Department of Administration and
Information is seen as being responsive to its customers and has been invited to
participate in many more organizational development activities as a result of the program.
