Expanding The Value Of Diagnostic Instruments

Focused And Actionable Feedback

Survey instruments must assess the core competencies that are critical to effective performance in a range of management, leadership, project, and team positions. The items selected should reflect the job experience of successful practitioners. Well-crafted survey items provide objective feedback from the key constituents of the survey’s target population. As such, survey participants receive feedback that provides a helpful roadmap of the actions they need to take to increase their personal effectiveness and improve performance on the job. Focused survey feedback helps people better understand what they need to do to work with others more effectively and to achieve results through and with others. Ultimately, no one can succeed over the long term without understanding how his or her coworkers, direct reports, team members and/or peers are responding to his or her work practices. The first rule then of job effectiveness is to understand the people with whom one works and on whom one depends for results. All too often people fail to understand what is important to the other person and what results they expect from their work or business interactions. Survey instruments will help you ask these important questions and will voice the issues that are important to your survey population. If we can agree that organizations are built on trust and the foundation of trust is understanding, then we believe that you will find feedback instruments to be an effective means of clarifying understanding on an organization-wide basis. Providing your target employees with focused feedback will enable them to take responsibility for their work and business relationships and for their performance on the job.
