Identifying
Mentors
Survey data will
reveal the practices employed by your most effective managers,
leaders, and team members and will identify the practices that
distinguish them from your least effective. This analysis can help you
identify the most qualified people to serve as mentors within your
organization. You will be better able to access and draw upon the
talents and experiences of those employees whose survey scores place
them in the top quartile of the survey population. Their results
indicate that from the point of view of their direct reports, team
members or peers they are among the most effective people in their
positions in your organization. If, for example, you consider
management and leadership as the art of getting results through
others, then the managers and leaders whose results place them in the
top quartile of your organization are the most effective at working
with the people who report to them. It is these managers and leaders
who have learned from their experience how to develop people on the
job and achieve the results expected of them.
